The aim of Alaxia, created in April 2008, consists in development of medicinal products for respiratory diseases based on our peroxidase platform.

The first product existing the pipeline, Meveol, is dedicated to cystic fibrosis, life-shortening genetic disease.

 

Cystic fibrosis affects 6 000 French people and 100.000 persons among western European and United States Caucasian populations. The clinical expression of the disease includes respiratory syndrome, digestive syndrome and hyper-concentration in salt (NaCl) in the sweat. In spite of scientific progress, there is not yet curative treatment today.
 
Recent scientific publications show also a defect in the transport of SCN- ion needed for the natural production of hypothiocyanite molecule (OSCN)-.
 
From our unique R&D peroxidase plateform, Alaxia dispose of the OSCN- molecule, which completed with Lactoferrin, becomes Meveol (OSCN- and Lactoferrin). The first program of Alaxia is qualification of Meveol as treatment of cystic fibrosis at short term.
 
Meveol has been granted orphan drug status by both EU Medicinal Agency (EMA) and US Food and Drug Agency (FDA)
